How do you deal with rats in cars?

I have never had this problem which I'm very grateful for. Hopefully it's not something I ever have to deal with because I'll probably destroy the car :tearsofjoy:

Leave traps all around your car I guess?

I feel cleaning a car's interior like seats, carpet, dashboard, and trunk may prevent rats.

Not eating food or drinking in your car, and telling people to not eat or drink in your car may make your car less likely to get rats in your car.

Occassionally driving your car, and turning on a loud song like a rock song may scare rats away.

I think rats hate the smell of peppermint, so leaving peppermint in your car may scare them away.

they aren't inside the car. only the engine bay. I found one nest in over the battery which I got rid of. Then found a 2nd under the engine cover with the coil wires chewed up the car sat for 4 straight days and the average daily temps were high 20's. I've been very meticulous about inspecting the insides of all cars. Her car came back from the dealer and having the harness repaired and I saw signs of them finding a new hiding spot in the truck.

Done that
It's good but not that effective.

We usually get the car serviced and I don't think any of us usually have anything inside the car and that's not a problem

Oh my... That's how it is for us as well

I don't think I've ever had to deal with a rat in my car. That would be a mess because the rat would chew on wires and that would cause damage to your car.....

I think driving a car through a car wash may scare away rats because rats don't like water, soap, and loud noises.

There are battery powered noise making machines which are designed to scare away rodents by playing noise which scare away rodents.

We do take it to servicing often.
Still it's the same and we do try to keep rat traps and other stuff to minimize the damage

Maybe contacting your local government about many rats on the street could help prevent too many rats from damaging cars. The government may send a worker to investigate where the rats are coming from, and do tasks like throwaway garbage at the park and streets, place traps on the street, and ask your neighbours to throwaway garbage, so fewer rats will stay in your neighborhood.

Hm.. it's not our locality
My mom is a head mistress to a government school and that area got too many problems. So, we couldn't take this further.
