How important are affiliates when it comes to promoting your websites?

I think affiliates are pretty important as long as you affiliate with sites which are similar to yours or have good content, or lots of visitors.

But, if you affiliate with a spam site, adult content, or scam site then it might hurt your sites reputation slightly, or might attract unwanted members like spammers, trolls, or the super perverted members.

Yes, they actually are. I've gotten alot of different members, saying they found us from an affiliate on another forum.

The key is, so find forums of tha same context, but don't just limit yourself to that, cause you really don't know where a member will come from.

I have a very good, and active member, come from a writer's forum that i affiliated with a long time ago.

I find being affiliated with active forum some times helps. Affiliating with a forum that has lazy staff or not a lot of activity probably will not help a forum much.

Meh, the forums I'm at most people look
at the ads no the aff. I tend not to look
at affs. unless they really strike my eyes.
