Cookbooks are typical recipes you can see online that detail step by step on how you can prepare your favorite meals. Do you find these books important?

With the availability of food of any type, it can be easy to be carried away with cookbooks. Sometimes you can't find every ingredient or sometimes the recipes are so simple you tend to experiment instead with food in your fridge and pantry. Sometimes they take up a bunch of shelf space so it's good to have some, and then some legible notecards of the other things you like, rather than get many on impulse and regret it later. So they aren't that important, by and large.

I find cookbooks useful because I can follow their step by step instructions when cooking a certain meal.

I have my paternal grandmother's cookbook that was passed down to me.

I have some other cook books that my mother has given to me over the years.

These are all that I need as far as whipping up something for dinner.

I believe that they are very important but I have used one. Everything I know about cooking was taught to me by my mother with no book. It's purely oral and practical.

With YouTube these days I feel personally its not valuable its good to have if you want to make a special family dinner or dessert but other recipes can be found online these days

I do use YouTube cooking channels once in a while especially when it's a new food I need to learn how to make. They are very helpful.

We have some cookbooks that were passed down. Problem though, the food wasn't that healthy back then. Irony of that is, the people were lol But they also didn't sit at their phones or a computer all day & were more active.

Back then people did stuff to earn such food, now a days we got to eat light for all the sitting we do lol.

I think our forefathers had more healthy foods than we do now. We eat lots of garbage now.

A lot of people are missing out on what is necessary about life and that involves the type of food that they eat too. People now prefer taking more of processed foods now.

Heatman Heatman Henrywrites Henrywrites I have to agree with the both of you. Humans nowadays want it fast that's why they go to processed foods. Problem is, we ARE having more health problems due to our diets. & then that too, they want a magic pill, that quick fix. They rather do that than change their diet.

People are lazy to change diet! This is something that I am yet to understand why. Taking the painful approach to changing your diet shouldn't be that difficult.

Our diet now sucks, then the pills are the real killer. Imagine when one would literally depend on swallowing pills to stay alive. It's disheartening.
