so obama is trying to reduce the debt of the USA by cutting the pay checks of government officials. Let's be honest though, no matter what president does, no matter who get's a pay cut the USA will never be out of debt. And sooner or later debt collectors will come a knocking and the USA will be screwed.

so how long do you guys think before we become the united states of china?
 
I think if China's and other US lender companies and countries economy fails then the US will have fewer countries to borrow money from.

I don't know when, but it probably won't happen in the near future.
 
I doubt our actual debt is $3 trillion; too unreasonable. And besides, we're the US! We'll do what we want, when we want, and we don't care how or the consequences!
 
I doubt we would become the "United states of China" as you claim, DS. I mean, 1st of all, why would they want a country rats broke to join them? That's just gonna hurt China. 2nd, China wont start a war with us any time soon to make us the "united states of china", because we basically owe them so much money that if they decided to start a war with us and we lost, then we would have no money to pay china back and it would be difficult to have us pay them back, which basically means their economy will tank. So I doubt we'd ever be called the U.S.C., especially since we'd be territories of china and not states lol.

On how we'll get out of this debt, last time we had a depression we needed a world war to help us get out of it. Maybe something major like that needs to happen? We also need to get out of Iran and all
those places, we spend so much money on that.
 
We don't really owe China, it's more like we give Israel a shit ton of money, then we end up losing a shit ton of more money because we're not spending well. Plus we spent trillions on weapons and technology advancements (which are useful though >_>).

lol, yeah we do owe China. We borrowed money from them, so we owe them money. They didnt give us a freebie
 
I wonder could China take some of the United States land like how banks take away your land when you can't pay them back money if the US fails to pay China back all their money. China probably be interested in Texas for its oil, and other states for its farm land, wood lands, and metal mines.
 
Isn't it that all countries owe others some amount of money? And those countries owe others money? (Pardon me, I'm not well versed on the international trade and loan situation.)

So if the countries came to collect, basically I figure what would happen is something where all countries start collecting off each other and suddenly large chunks of debt have to be forgiven because no one could really pay it off easily. Sort of like if I owe you money, and you owed a 3rd person money... if they came to collect from you, you'd come to collect from me and I'd have to raise funds somewhere so I could pay you to pay the 3rd person. And if that 3rd person owed me, then I'd collect from them to pay to so you could pay them... Basically they paid themselves.
