Do you play non stop and beat each one a few days after you beat it, or do you play them for shorter periods of time every day and take a few weeks/months/years?

Myself, I'm more inclined to the former way, which explains why I often run out of video games to play in general.

i never really look how long it takes, always play a bit so it isnt finished quickly, i finished mario 3D land very quickly though, way to easy game. prolly a week of 2/3 playing a bit 4 days a week. And i Galaxy2 took like a few months i think, but i didnt have much time to play in the wii, also because my parents want to watch tv on that tv.

depends on the game style for me. If it's like Super Mario 64 or Galaxy, I'll just whore my way through, collecting EVERY star one world at a time and making sure i'm close to 100 coins.
Usually it would take a a good few months to get through a good long game (Galaxy & Skyrim mainly(yet to finish Skyrim main story))

It depends on the genre of the game. If I play CoD or some shooter it will take me months to just finish the main story. (I'm a n00b at CoD) But if you're talking pokemon or mario I am able to plow through it in a matter of hours or days.

How long it takes me to complete a game depends entirely on the game itself (some are longer than others, obviously). But I usually put quite a bit of time into them, and complete them fairly quickly (in terms of the number of days or weeks I spend playing it, not necessarily the number of hours I clock up) relative to how long someone else might take to complete said game. This is partly because I usually only play one game at a time, so more of my spare time ends up getting dedicated to it.

I'm really, really slow and bad at games. I take my time. I get distracted by stuff like graphics, sometimes I get lost and have trouble figuring what exactly I'm supposed to do. I tend to get most of my enjoyment just wandering around exploring and looking at the scenery.

I just don't get it when you hear people complaining of 5 hour campaigns. That's a game I might actually see through to the finish. Do people really finish a game that fast? I just can't really comprehend the mentality of rushing past all the cool interesting stuff without stopping to check it out. Is it like climbing a mountain just for the sense of accomplishment, without any real appreciation for the nature of it?

I also tend to switch from one game to another on a whim just so I don't get too sick of whatever it is I'm playing.

Sometimes the game wants you to shoot a bunch of people or have a fight and beat everyone up to progress along, and that can get tedious. Some games try to make it a real challenge, and for me that takes a lot of the fun out of it. It starts to become like work. Something I've gotta do to get ahead. I especially hate boss battles. I think I ended up spending more time stuck on boss battles in Sonic Generations 3DS than the actual fun bit of running through the actual levels. When it came to 'Time Eater', I just didn't bother. Do I really want to throw away another hour of my life trying to get past this guy.

alllloooonnnnnnnngggggg time......... well thats b4 january b4 my parents allowed me to play as much as i want.... now i can beat them in about 2 weeks of playing about an hour each day

I personally can beat a shooter in less than a day, but then take month on some RPGs, just doing side quests.

what the heck makes shooters so interesting??? all u do is shoot the crap outta someone and thats somehow fun???????????????

BUT WHATS THE POINT OF KILLING PEOPLE?????????????? IM A GIRL so thats probly why I NO UNDERSTAND

They're not functionally people. On a more basic level it's about wiping out every little obstacle or frustration that stands in your way. It's just that in shooters those obstacles are represented as enemy humans/aliens/zombies/robots/whatever needs shooting. Ever notice how angry/frustrated some guys seem? That's probably why they like shooters.

I dunno if the blood and violence is desensitizing or bad for the soul, but the basic gameplay isn't all that far removed from whack-a-mole.

More often than not you're killing things that deserve to die in shooter games anyway.

Back on topic, it used to take me months and months of real time to finish games. I finished the 4 stories of Sonic Heroes and then came back a few years later to get all the chaos emeralds and finish the last story! I really used to suck at video games.

It also depends on how into it I am. When I played Kid Icarus, I got up to Chapter 9 the same day I got the game, so I started to slow down so I could enjoy it more. I'm on Chapter 24, and I refuse to progress until I 99% finish Palutena's treasure hunt. ( I can't fuse weapon gems 50 times I KNOW that, and I already used 4 feathers, sobsob.)

But usually when I go back to look at the records of my finished games, they say I spent about 20-38 hours on them.
