Yes, number 5 is a step few people do which is uninstall programs which you never use.

but have to be careful you don't uninstall the wrong program.

Indeed, but you can always reinstall the program if you still have the installer file, or the website you downloaded the file from still exists.
Sometimes uninstalling older versions of software, and installing the latest version of the software you uninstall can fix problems, or create problems if the new version has new bugs in it.
