HP's home-focused and business divisions have frequently seemed at odds with each other, and apparently the company agrees. The Wall Street Journal claims that the tech giant is about to split into two companies, one focused on PCs and the other dedicated solely to corporate hardware and services. If the report is accurate, the separation could be announced as early as Monday.

I wonder would these two companies will still use the same HP name. I think a lot of people thesedays just buy lesser known brands like CyberPowerPC, and iBuypower because some smaller brands have cooler looking cases, and better performance for the same amount of money as an HP computer.

A lot of people are also building, and upgrading their older PC, so there is less of a reason to buy a computer from HP, and other big brands when you can build your own PC, or upgrade your PC for less money.

If they were going for a cliche thing, one's name would start with H and the other with P.

Still though, why the need to part?

I read on a blog recently that the consumer brand will be called HP INC. and the Enterprise/Corporate brand will be called HP Enterprise. HP is also going to layoff 50,000+ workers to save money. My guest, it is easier for HP to lay people off when HP split a company into two or more pieces.

American computer and printer makers do not seem to be in very good shape these days.

I think HP should just stick to making Printers since they earn so much from selling overpriced ink for inkjet printers and printer toner for laser printers.

A lot of people thesedays just either build their own computer, upgrade and fix their own PC which they bought many years a go, or buy from smaller brands like CyberPowerPC, iBuypower, Falcon, or the store-brand from their local computer store because they get more value for the dollar, and a cooler looking computer instead of boring looking rectangular desktops and laptops which companies like HP, and Dell sell.
