HP p6258 stuck on opening screen / beeps mystery

Hello! i have a HP p6258. it gets stuck on the hp opening screen. i unplug everything from the m2n7b-la (violet) motherboard and reboot. one 2 second regular beep and one longer regular beep with a black screen (no indication of a signal getting to the monitor, either). i then plug in one RAM stick, i get no beeps and,"reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". when i add the DVD or HD back to the motherboard, i'm back to getting stuck on the opening screen.

i can't find a comprehensive manual on the MB for the beep code, but doesn't getting a beep indicate the MB is ok and then i should try to find what is causing the hangup on that opening hp screen by those beeps?

Maybe replacing your current stick of RAM with another working stick of RAM will fix your computer boot problem.

based on the link above, I would say it sounds like your video card is not working. Only way to fix it would try inserting a new one to see if that resolve it.
