Internet hyperbole (and financial analysis) have rendered HTC, a once high-flying mobile brand, essentially valueless. In short, the company is trading below cash on hand. So if you bought all HTC stock, the company would have to pay you, the buyer, to take it over. This means the company’s factories, stock and brand are worth nothing, at least on Wall Street.

Furthermore, the researchers have discovered that the HTC One Max has been keeping fingerprint biometrics used to unlock the cellphones in an unencrypted “world-readable” file, a definite no-no in the world of security. Hackers could easily open the file /data/dbgraw.bmp on the phone’s memory and capture your fingerprint data.

It’s bad. In short, HTC is hosed.

These are some sad times for HTC fans, and HTC. Maybe HTC should try creating more non-smartphone products like their VR headset, Action Camera, and Fitness tracking bracelet since Smartphones don't seem as profitable for big companies like HTC, and LG unless you are a huge company like Apple, Huawei and Samsung which makes most of the profits because of their huge amount of buyers.

Plus, there are a lot of smaller Asian phone makers like Xiaomi, and One Plus which now make cheaper phones which are as fast as expensive phones like the Samsung Galaxy S6.

oh well, nothing lasts forever.

Worthless? Wow! That's a bit harsh. I thought it was supposed to be purchased by Asus or something... I wonder if HTC will go bankrupt in the near future...

HTC said they want to remain an independent company, and not be purchased. I think HTC will find other ways to become profitable again with their Nexus 9 tablet, VR headset, action portable camera, fitness tracker, so they are less dependent on their smartphones for money where there are too many makers, and not enough new phone buyers.
