I've managed to get myself into a new job. People are surprised because I was at my old job for 15 years.....I guess they weren't expecting me to leave because they got so use to seeing me there. Now, my new job is still retail but there are perks to being at this job versus what I had at my old job........
- My new job pays me $2 more an hour than what I was getting at my old job. This is good for me but bad for them. What's that say about you when I immediately leave after working for you for 15 years and I'm instantly making $2 more an hour than what you were paying me? I should have been making more money than what I was making.
- My new job consist of a more regular schedule. I go in a 6 am and I'm off by 3 pm. My days off rotate each week but I at least don't have to worry about having to work a closing shift and then having to return to work the very next morning leaving me with the ability to get very little sleep. Which, I am sure, would affect my performance at work. Also, there's no boss/manager giving me a mile long list 10 minutes before I go home and telling me I have to complete that list before I can leave the building........I actually get to go home when I'm suppose to, it's rare that I stay past my time. Even if I do it's only a few minutes.
- My new job actually has air conditioning. I don't feel like I'm working in a sweat shop anymore.
- My new job actually tries to make sure you get your breaks like you're suppose to. You'll work a couple of hours then get a 15 minute break. Then you'll work a couple more hours and get your hour long lunch. Then you'll work a couple more hours and get another 15 minute break. Then you'll work a couple more hours and then go home. You don't get into trouble for having to stop and go to the bathroom.....like how dare I have the nerve to have a bladder and have to use the restroom while I'm at work.
- My new job allows me to only do one job and not 10. I'm not running around like a chicken with my head cut off because I'm having to do the work of several people. We're not short staffed here so I'm not wondering around trying to do the work of 3 or 4 or 5 people and then having to face a boss that wants to know why I'm not getting my work done.
