Any game recommendations?

Wait what? You bought one for your friend? as a gift or did your friend gave you the money to buy it?

Also there are tons a cool games to play on a PS3 but I mainly like RPGs, so any exclusive ones might be a good way to start.

I've been more of a fan of the Xbox 360, myself, but the PS3 definitely has it beat when it comes to some really sweet exclusive titles. Besides Gears, there aren't many other 360 exclusives that I care about (I'm not a fan of Halo).

I sold my Xbox 360 a while ago since I rarely used it but I did keep the 19 games I have and my second wired controller (which I used for PC gaming). I'm so close to attempting to sell those games for $100 on Craigslist and putting that money away towards a PS Vita or a tablet for school/work.

I also think you should start off with some of the exclusives, such as Infamous and Uncharted. The first installments of those series are fairly cheap these days so it shouldn't be an issue to pick up a few games for it.

If there's a games I always wanted but could never play because I didn't have a PS3, it's probably Sorcery, and Uncharted.

Other than that, at least you didn't get the retarded Shitty-box, which has nothing to offer if you don't like bloody shooters.

Right. You want recommendations for the PS3 I got 'em.

First off, some depend on where you live and some don't. Plus your idea of a good game may be different to mine too, but oh well, here's what I recomend:

Ratchet and Clank Classic HD - adventuring, action, comedy, a lot of blowing stuff up with ridiculous weapons, and even some first-person shooting, it's got the lot.
Ratchet and Clank Future Trilogy - Three games in the trilogy (duh), consisting of Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, and Crack in Time. See above, it's the same series.
Ratchet and Clank All 4 One - Got friends? Good idea to play this then. Never have tried it myself, but it was more appealing to those who played together then those who didn't.
Little Big Planet 1 and 2 - Simple platformer-puzzler with that 'Make your own stage and character and stuff' feel. More enjoyable with a friend, but simple for one. Even download user-made levels or maybe the Sonic costume pack.
Modnation Racers - One of the best Kart racers around on the PS3. Good clean fun. Plus, character customization and track creation are an added bonus. Include the ability to download other user content and you've got something that keeps you racing for hours using someone's Yoshi on someone else's Barrel Train. (OK, they don't look super-close to it, but it's a good effort!)
Sly Raccoon Trilogy Classics HD - If you like thieves, it's a good compilation. Steal stuff, beat up other stuff, and smack a few badies whilst you're at it. Oh yeah, and you're a thief, so feel free to go sneaky-sneaky.
Jak & Daxter Trilogy Classics HD - First three Jak and Daxter games. Daxter'll keep you entertained with his frequent, witty comments. Starts off feeling a little like Crash Bandicoot, but then gets more guns in the second game and taken away from the island and into a futuristic city.
Sonic Generations - Doesn't need an explanation, I hope. Better then the DS version that doesn't let you choose music on the stages and better then the occasional slow-down on a PC that can't quite run it.
Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, 3 - Playstation Network downloads. All PS1 classics, all hard-as-nails platforming. 3D linear levels but more unforgiving then Mario 64. Get ready to get frustrated when you least expect it. Takes a while to finish off at 100% too.
Spyro the Dragon 1, 2 and Year of the Dragon - Depending on where you live you MIGHT be able to download them from the Playstation Store. I for one can't because Activision never re-released them in Australia. Good clean adventure-platforming game with flying. FLYING. Or more specifically gliding. Still, it's better then Mario 64's triple jump. Simple, only if you've cleared it before.

The only other game I have is Skylanders, which if you have on either the Xbox360, PC or Wii is the exact same game.

Other than that, at least you didn't get the retarded Shitty-box, which has nothing to offer if you don't like bloody shooters.

Oh how I so totally beg to differ on that one. No other version of Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing gives you Banjo and Kazooie as playable, not to mention the bear and bird got a re-release of their games on Xbox Live Arcade (which will not happen on Nintendo unless they get Rare back), Sonic got his games, Castle Crashers started out on the 360 and some of the weapons are easier to get here then on the PS3 version, I can (and have) gotten the Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning from the arcade, and if you have a copy of Conker Live and Reloaded lying around for the original Xbox console, have some fun getting down and dirty, whacking brass balls (quite literally what is meant there) and unzipping your pants in socially unacceptable places.

Sonic, okay.
Castle Crashers, okay.
Legend of Spyro is available to PS2 too., so no.
Conker Live and Reloaded? Umm, I guess.

You named 4 games. (I'll give you an advantage, 5 games, okay?)
Lets look at the Wii:

Pikmin.
Sonic.
Mario.
Zelda.
Kirby.
Wii sports.

DS:

The world will end with you.
Kirby.
Zelda.
Sonic.
Mario.
Eterian Odyssey.

I just named the first 6 games that popped in my head.

PS3:

All star.
God of War.
Sly Cooper.
Uncharted.
Heavy Rain.

And some more games...

In all honesty, I hate both, because they lack a certain Italian plumber.

No, seriously, I hate them because both are filled with bloody shooters, show my a ninty console which has more than 30% bloody games.

This is my personal PS3 library:

inFamous
inFamous 2
Little Big Planet
Little Big Planet 2
Portal 2
Resident Evil 5
Dante's Inferno
3D Dot Game Heroes
Final Fantasy XIII
Ico Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection
Heavy Rain
Catherine

El Shaddai (just bought; not sure how I feel about it)

Downloads:
Flow
Flower
Journey
inFamous: Festival of Blood
Fat Princess
(Not including free downloaded games or things I did not like)

For platforming and game creation, you can't beat Little Big Planet. Adventure/RPG similar to Zelda and old school RPGs would be 3D Dot Game Heroes (also adorable). The inFamous series is a fun sandbox style game where you become a super hero or super villain. Portal 2 is one of the best puzzle games with plot. Well, Catherine may have a better plot, but speaks to an older audience I think; Catherine is a game of relationships/drinking during the day and nightmare puzzles at night which quickly became an addicting game. Heavy Rain is one of the deepest plots you will find in a game and is a very suspenseful mystery game. Flow, Flower, and Journey are all great short games that are beautiful and will have you coming back again and again. Ico Shadow of the Colossus Collection is a classic set of games, though I mostly play Shadow of the Colossus over Ico. Fat Princess is a fun, silly strategy game to play online, but is better if you have friends to play it with. Finally, Dante's Inferno is a God of War style game which I preferred over God of War, though most gamers prefer the latter.

Oh, and I should hope I don't need to describe long-running series like Final Fantasy or Resident Evil.

Side note: you can give me your PSN screen name if you want to be friends. My handle on PSN is Spoony_bardf4 I believe.

You may find demos for some of the games in the psn store.

I'm having trouble connecting it to the internet, it's alot more complicated than an 3DS or wii, but not as bad as a dsi. I just have to find out what my stupid wpa/wep code is for my router

That's not true. Sony and Microsoft have had plenty of games on their consoles that aren't constant blood and gore.

I think you forgot the [/sarcasm] part there.

Congrats! I don't own a PS3, but I have played it at my friend's house before (Shadow14). We played a game called Skate on it, and it was pretty fun to play!

Even though I mostly buy adult games for my PS3, I think you will find that nine of the games I listed as owning (and a few others not mentioned because they were free) contain not a speck of blood. Oh, and only one is a shooter. In other words, if you don't know anything about a system, then don't interject in a thread whose sole purpose is to be helpful and suggest quality games for said system, not argue over which system you prefer on a Nintendo-oriented website.

Get the orange box. It's cheap online, and worth the price of portal or half-life 2 alone, but also comes with the episodes and TF2. If yours plays PS1 games, I'd say get Castlevania SotN, Quake 2, Marvel VS Capcom, Metal Gear Solid, and Diablo. As for actual PS3 games, I'd recommend Doom 3 BFG edition, Assassin's creed 3, Aliens Colonial Marines, Sonic and Sega all stars racing, and PSASBR

Fine fine, next gen will convince you all.... *Shifty Trollface.jpg*

So, just asking, are there any good platformers on the PS3? It doesn't matter if it's 3D or 2D.

Everything I posted originally is a platformer. To how much of an extent is the player's decision, Ratchet and Clank is more action-based and Little Big Planet is like Mario with heaps of puzzles. Sly Raccoon is stealth-platformer. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro classics where platformers. Skylanders, according to Wikipedia, is Platformer, but there's very little jumping in anything that isn't in the 3DS versions (using spring platforms to jump doesn't mean a platformer to me, you need to be able to press a button that makes you jump so long as you are touching the ground), and Modnation Racers, which is racing.
