If we are not using 3D yet, then why would we be ready for VR?

I think there's two main groups of gamers ones which are always looking for and trying new things and another set of old-school sort of gamers who don't really like change and like to stick with what they know. Another thread was about VR and rather than commenting on that thread I feel it would be a good idea to open a new topic about 3D and who is actually using that technology.

I do not own a single 3D Device, and I feel 3D in cinemas is mostly just a gimmick to make a few more bucks on entry fees and people who always forget the 3D glasses. If you own a 3D device please upload a picture!

Being more of the old-school sort of gamer perhaps some of you guys have some real experience with 3D and can bring some good points to the table as to why we should use 3D.

The Nintendo 3DS, and 3DS XL are in 3D. I think 3D never caught on because of the prices of large 3D TVs, and the 3D glasses which are kind of expensive.

I thought Up, Kung Fu Panda 2, and other 3D movies I watch in 3D theatures were pretty good.

VR could be useful as an alternative for big screen TVs since the monitors in the VR glasses are smaller, so they should cost less than bigger TVs over time because VR monitors use less glass, and materials to build. There are also now VR Glasses which let you use your bigger smartphone display like the Samsung Galaxy Note as the display for the VR glasses by inserting it into a pair of VR Goggles with a slot in it to hold your phone.

VR is also more realistic because you are only watching the game or movie while you wear VR goggles, so you are not stairing at the TV stand, TV lights, lamp and other things in front of you like watching TV. Plus, the video quality on VR won't be affected by sun light, light from a room's light bulb, and someone standing in front of your TV like regular TV.

I think in the future, VR would be like the movie "The Matrix" where you are brought into a virtual world where you can do stuff which can't be done in reality.

I never got into 3D as I'm one of those people it makes nauseous. Has anyone else encountered that? In fact I got sick the first time I played Doom and it wasn't even 3D in neither definition,

VR is just another fad that's not going to go no where. When everyone was jumping on the 3D bandwagon I told everyone its not going to last. And I was right the PS4 doesn't even do 3D. The only thing developers are doing trying to push VR is to get more console sales.
