If you were to invent a new Pokemon type.

Ever since Gen2, new types are not coming out...I know that 17 types are already enough, but right now if you were to make a new Pokemon type, what would it be?

My idea is the Light type.

Battle Properties:

Offensive: 2* Dark, Ghost, Dragon.
0.5* Grass, Steel
1* All other types

Defensive: 2* None
0.5* Water, Fire, Electric, Dark, Dragon, Psychic
0* Ghost, Fighting
1* All other types.

I feel like Water should also resist Light. Also, Dark would be super effective against it as well (both weak to the other). Fighting should be neutral.

As for an idea of mine...
Gravity Type! (as many Pokemon are themed after outer space, it makes sense to just make that a type. it would bring balance to the over abundance of Normal types and make more sense with moves involving Gravity already in the game)

Attacking Stats
x2 Flying, Rock, Dragon, Steel
x0.5 Ground, Dark, (Light)
x0 Ghost

Defensive Stats
x0 None
x0.5 Rock, Steel, Ground, Fighting
x2 Psychic, Ghost, Dark, (Light)

Other balance notes: Fighting is too common offensively because not much resists and lots of things are weak, so that's why that is there. Also, Ghost is not super effective except against Psychic, so it would make sense to have Gravity weak to it.

Possible Moves:
Change to Gravity type: Gravity (duh), Knock-Down, Force Palm, Meteor Mash
New moves:
Press- small damage, chance to paralyze
Crush- medium damage, chance to paralyze
Float- immune to ground attacks and raises speed
Repel- causes opponent to change Pokemon (like Roar, etc) but also has out of battle effect the same as item
Pressurize- changes target's ability to Pressure (for double/tripe battles)
Dark Hole- large damage (to everything adjacent to target in double/triple battle)
Sink Hole- prevents opponent from switching Pokemon

Alpha type. Weakness none. Resistance none.

Technically there were 18 different types before the 5th generation. The ??? type was the 18th. Arceus can be this type if you hack.

Anyway, I think a light type would be a good one.

Light type moves would be strong against dark, ghost, ground, and ice type pokémon.
Psychic type moves would be strong against light type pokémon.
Light type pokémon would resist fire, electric, ice, ghost, and dark type moves.
Fire, and electric pokémon would resist light type moves.
Light type pokémon have no immunity against other move types.
Grass and psychic type pokémon are immune to light type moves.

Um... Light Type was what Gelivable64 said in the first post. Unless you are saying you just think Fire and Electric should be added to what he said...
