PS4 I'm out of space now. Boo-hoo

That's why I'm slapping a 2TB HDD into my PS4 when I get it. I read something about installing a 4 TB one but that requires some modding I'm not comfortable with.

I tend to just keep deleting games when I've played them and not installing them until I know I will play them. Tends to work fine for me. I can't be bothered transferring everything across to a bigger drive.

It's supposed to be pretty simple to install a new drive*...
- Power off your PS4.
- Pop off the cover (on the side above the disc drive) on top.
- Use a phillips screwdriver to remove the screw holding the enclosure/drive in.
- Pull the enclosure (containing the old drive) out.
- Use a screwdriver to remove screws from the enclosure.
- Remove old drive from enclosure.
- Place new harddrive in the enclosure (and ensure it's screwed in properly).
- Slide enclose into place.
- Replace phillips screw.
- Replace cover.
- Go to Sony's website, download the latest PS4 firmware from there and put it on a USB drive (in a structure like <drive letter>/PS4/UPDATE).
- Plug the USB drive into the PS4.
- Plug in the PS4
- Power up PS4 by holding power button for 7 seconds to boot to safe mode.
- Install the update.
- Go through first time PS4 set up with the new hard drive. (Set up internet, sign in with your account, etc...)
- Enjoy.

* These instructions are for a regular PS4, not slim or PS4 Pro. I'd imagine they're both fairly similar but I'm not 100% sure.

I mean changing drives doesn't void your warrantee so that means they designed it to be easy to switch (knowing full well it'd be something people would want to change).

Personally I think it's stupid that they shipped the PS4 with less than 1TB of space. Games in this gen take upwards of 30-40GB now and harddrive costs for them likely wouldn't have been that much more to go with a 1TB drive instead.
