In-N-Out CEO Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson has revealed why the fast food chain won't ever offer mobile ordering or app-based pickup.

As reported by Dexerto, Snyder-Ellingson was speaking at Pepperdine University and discussed how In-N-Out stands above the rest of its competition by offering top-tier customer service and freshness, which it doesn't believe is possible if it leans into these new trends.

"We have for sure had that put in front of us, and the answer is no,” Snyder-Ellingson said of mobile ordering and app-based pickup. “The main reason is part of what makes In-N-Out and the experience so special is the interaction and the customer service that we’re able to give, the smile, the greeting.

"Just that warmth and feeling of the culture. And so, the mobile ordering will definitely take a piece of that away, and there’s also the freshness factor.”

In-N-Out has never been one to copy what its competition is doing, and it has been very reserved in how it chooses to expand. The chain was founded in 1948 in California and, despite its popularity, has only opened stores in a few other states since then.

Once they get a new CEO, they will change things to everyone else.

I feel In-N-Out maybe missing out on sales from people who feel more comfortable ordering from their smartphone instead of having a conversation with the cashier about what to order which may not be easily possible if the person has problems talking to strangers because they are very shy or a physical or mental health problems make it difficult for them to talk.

I still would love to try In-N-Out someday, we don't have any locations where I live. I agree though with you froggy, yeah it's good that the food is more fresh this way but they're really missing out on sales.

If you’re too shy to order at a fast food place in person, I question how these people have jobs in the first place. Then having fast food is the least of your concerns

Usually they have very secluded jobs, that was my first job and loved it.
