DQ and yet not DQ.

Game is being bombed by critics.

"Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai is not an experience I recommend to anyone. Regardless of your familiarity with the series, I can promise you that this is not worth the time. Even fans who love the source material will get nothing positive from this title, as the miserable gameplay loop and surface-level storytelling will do nothing to initiate or enhance anybody’s love for the IP. What is here is more representative of a mobile game’s structure, with a console coating that’s mostly deceitful above all else."

"Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai is a video game that struggles to answer one of the most basic questions that must be asked when considering a project of this type: who is this game for? On the one hand, it falls short for those who have experienced the anime, and at the same time it also falls short for those who want to immerse themselves in Dai's story for the first time."

"Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai suffers from a chronic lack of focus. The vibrant visuals and fun combat can’t make up for the fact that you’ll spend hours doing little more than watching static images tell the plot of the anime. The result is a game that will frustrate action RPG fans with a lack of action and fails to do justice to the story it is trying to tell. Unless you’re desperate for a new Dragon Quest game to play, you’re better off just watching the anime and skipping this spin-off entirely."

I like the anime and style graphics and 3D visual effects of Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai.

SE CEO acknowledged the harsh criticisms of the game, translated by TechRaptor:

Kiryu-san also acknowledged the harsh criticism received by Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai, and the fact that the game has problems. Square Enix believes that the time gap from the airing of the anime and the difference between the game's advertised selling points and what customers were also factors in the flop.

Interestingly, Square Enix has started to incorporate feedback from customers who played its smart device games ahead of release into its development process. Now the company is working on mechanisms to do the same for its Console and PC games as well, incorporating customer feedback in the initial stages of development.

Didn't it flop due to it being poorly made or just not a typical DQ game?
