Can an inexpensive gaming PC made from Intel & NVIDIA parts compete with an Xbox One or PlayStation 4?

This is a pretty good video on using Intel and Nvidia parts to build a PC. I'm surprise the guy did not go over his budget, and was able to also buy a keyboard, mouse, and Windows 8.1 with the budget he has.

I will say it's not that bad, a little laggy and blurry in gameplay but decent for $550.

Once DirectX 12 comes out for Windows, the performance of his budget gaming PC may improve.
