An Intel executive is predicting that 4K monitors will drop below $400 by the end of the year.

Kirk Skaugen, senior vice president and general manager of the PC Client Group at Intel, announced during a news conference in Computex that the Santa Clara chip maker is working with ViewSonic and TPV to bring budget 4K monitors to market later this year,” ITWorld reports. You may not have heard of TPV, but might be familiar with AOC and Envision, two brands it sells monitors under.

I think 4K monitors costing $400 won't sell very well because there is not a lot of 4K movies, and many people don't own laptops and desktop PCs which are fast enough to play 4K PC games at high video settings and 60 frames per seconds.

1080P and lower resolution monitors are also cheaper, and good enough for gaming.
