This isn't some symbolic drone swarm attack, this is the the first time it has ever happened at this scale. This came at the heels of Israel taking out the hezbolla terrorist and it's leaders in recent days in lebanon and preparing a ground assault. If there ever was a way there would be full on war in the middle east/WW3 this was the attack to spark it.

Edit: Looks like only one dead. The video makes it looks way worse. WW3 averted I guess. Between trying to kill trump and now this I was sure we'd be seeing operation Irani freedom

Not enough to spark WW3, middle east is an endless pit of combat.

Hopefully, many civilians can safely evacuate from Israel, and Lebanon, and the injured can recover.

RIP to the civilians who died.

This has literally never happened in 45 years since Iran became hostile to Israel. That many missiles launched directly from Iran and not one of it's proxies. And that too on the vital military infrastructure and population centres. ANY country would take it as a declaration of war if even if it was only 10% of the attack. Yeah WW3 was a hyperbole but direct war between Israel and Iran was on the cards and still is which is unprecedented.

I am glad they did retaliate. Israel must be stopped with this nonsense. Attacking and killing innocent people. I saw since the start all over the telegram people dying, children dead, heads open, blood everywhere while they are hidding. It's wild. That story of attacking hammas is BS. It's so easy to say: "Oh yeah, hammas is hidding there" and then they commit genocide.

Death and destruction is the only thing that awaits the enemies of israel

I am absolutely certain that they will collapse at some point in time. They are attacking too many countries and will eventually fail. Like Germany fought on two fronts. You can say that's not true but we can only wait and see.

This has been said for decades and the comparison to Germany isn't a very good one. Germany faced off the almost infinite manpower of the Red Army and the almost infinite industrial capacity of the United States. Israel is using tanks against kids with rocks and is funded by the United States. The US won't allow Israel to fall. If it came to the point where the survival of Israel was threatened, the US would go to war with whoever threatened them.

Hamas/Iran and their proxies commited worse. Raped, killed, kidnapped many innocent civillians. They commited pure terrorism. Iran and their proxies hide amongst their own civillians, it's their well known cowardly tactics using civillians as their shields. Many of Hamas, Hezbollah Iran's proxies members diguised themselves as civillians too. If they were not using that cowardly tactics then there wouldn't be that many civillians killed in the first place.

This. Also Iran and their proxies don't have any good enough fighter planes. Their air defense is weak. only relying on SAMs, AAAs and MANPADs. Can easily be destroyed with AGM 88 HARMs. A couple of 'Wild Weasels" flight groups can easily soften/destroy their air defenses alowing many strike fighter groups to drop many JDAMs and GBU Bombs and Bunker Busters from high above out of range of iran's AAA and MANPADs . Not to mention the stealth fighter/bomber F-35s that can launch from us carriers that can bypass Iran's radar and air defenses. With no good enough air defenses, Iran will loose a war with US fast.

It wouldn't even be a "war", it would be a turkey shoot. People underestimate the US military because they never unleash their full capability. Heaven help the fools who provoke the US to full fury.

US wouldn't even need its full military power to force Iran into surrendering if it wanted to. Iran's military power is identical to hussein's iraq military power backthen. And we all know hussein's iraq got beaten fast by US years back. Many of Iranians actualy do not support the current regime. Iran was once in "good terms" too with the US. Which is why Iran has the F-5 and F-14 tomcat. They were obtained during that time. Wonder what would happen to Iran if the US was forced to topple the current regime by military force.

Anyway saw a nice video of AGM 88 Harm taking out SAM

Mate, it's totally not. Iran is not a threat to the US but it has improved significantly on what Iraq had back in 2003.

No it's totally is. It's just because of the natural evolution of military tech, mainly from Russia. Like newer SAM system they got from Russia. My point is if Sadam's Iraq is still around it will also have the same level of military tech as Iran too nowadays. But of course Western Military tech has also significantly improved too. And thus the level of difference in military tech is still the same between Iran (and Iraq if Sadam is still in power) and US backthen and nowdays. They cannot catchup. And thus what I said before it's identical, the same scenario, because the level of difference in military tech is still the same. For example, The AGM 88 HARM, which is actually not even a new missile tech at its core, it's still more than enough to take out even the newer SAM system they got from Russia rather easily. And thus even with newer SAM tech, on the field, the effectiveness of Iran's newer SAM system is no different than the SAM they had from backthen, which was also the same SAM Sadam had backthen. On paper yes they got newer tech but in reality it's no different. Like the Drones and Ballistic missiles they have nowadays, practically still cannot defeat US and Israel's Missile defense systems. 200 or so Ballistic missiles launched and they killed only one person and the person was not even an Israeli but a Palestinian. But Khamenei called that a successful attack lol

Fair points and accepted.

It was a successful attack, from a certain point of view.

Iran needed to show their minions that they were not cowed by Israel but they didn't want to escalate the conflict as they know they will be defeated. They fired a lot of older missiles and also drones which had a flight time in multiple hours. They struck Israel back but not to the extent that they feared a response. And, crucially, they got vast amounts of intelligence on Israeli defence capabilities.

Iron Dome is not the infallible system they claim it to be. This is why the US is putting missile defence systems in country. We have not seen the last of this conflict. The fact that there are American lives on the ground is Israel may be a bigger deterrent than any anti-missile system. Iran will not risk killing US servicemen or servicewomen.

If they have nukes, they 100% are a threat to the US or any country allied with us.

Iran actually has the means to create Nuclear warheads (they may even already made some prototype Nuclear warheads secretly). But they won't use it. It would be disastrous for the regime for sure, should they decide to use it. They know it. Just like Putin talking big about nuking Ukraine before but won't actually use it in truth. It would give the US and Co. a 200% definitive reason to bomb them to hell and back, US alone could easily nuke Iran to hell, with the B-2 Stealth Bombers alone as Iran's air defenses are weak. B-2 can carry 16 Nuclear Bombs or 80 JDAMs. And US just bombed the Houthis' underground weapon storage facilities with the B-2s. To send a warning to Khamenei too.

Israel just sent in their Fighter Planes, striking Iran's Missile Launch sites, missiles production sites and SAM sites.

The IDF says it has completed its overnight airstrikes against Iranian military sites in response to Iran’s attacks on Israel in recent months, including the 200 ballistic missiles on October 1.

The name of the operation is dubbed by the military “Days of Repentance.”

According to the military, dozens of Israeli Air Force aircraft, including fighter jets, refuelers, and spy planes, participated in the strikes some 1,600 kilometers from Israel.

The aircraft safely returned to Israel following the “complex” operation, it says.

The strikes were carried out in several waves over the course of several hours, in various areas of Iran.
The IDF says the strikes targeted Iranian military sites, including air defense batteries and ballistic missile manufacturing sites — those used in direct Iranian attacks on Israel on October 1 and April 14.

Additionally, the military says the strikes have given the IAF “wider freedom of aerial action in Iran,” and that it has a wide bank of targets that it can hit in future operations if required.

The damage caused by the strikes will be revealed in time, the IDF says, adding that Iran has paid a price for its attacks on Israel.
The IDF is holding an assessment now on a potential Iranian response to the attack, but as of now, there are no changes to guidelines for civilians.

So Khamenei is believed to be terminally ill and may only have months to live:

In dota we used to joke about an attack doing 'mental damage' which waiting for the israeli strike seems to have done to khameni.
However no reason to believe this nonsense till the Iranians confirm it.

Israel's new laser defense system expected to be operational in 2025

Israel's high-powered laser interception system, dubbed Iron Beam, is expected to be operational next year.
That's according to the director-general of Israel's foreign ministry Eyal Zamir, who signed a $535m (£411m) contract with manufacturers Rafael and Elbit yesterday.

Iron Beam would supplement Israel's other aerial defense capacities, such as the more well-known Iron Dome.
These have been unable to intercept every projectile launched into Israel, resulting in both civilian and military casualties.
The cost of a single Iron Dome interception is thought to be about $50,000 (£38,400). Iron Beam interceptions, by contrast, would cost a few dollars apiece.

"This may sound like science-fiction, but it's real," said Israel's former prime minister Naftali Bennett in 2022, adding the Iron Beam's interceptions would be silent, invisible and cost $3.50 each.

This month, the US equipped Israel with a highly advanced defense system that possesses the ability to fend off ballistic missiles inside or outside the atmosphere.
