Yes, I think Electronic Power Steering is more unreliable than hydraulic power steering found in older cars with power steering which uses a hydraulic pump to boost the steering power on a car to make it easier to turn a car.

I saw a few videos on YouTube of some Electronic Power Steering wheels moving on their own and shaking randomly because the steering computer, wires, and sensor which controls the power steering motor is broken. The steering wheel also become hard to turn if the computer or electronics becomes broken.

I think attaching an electric power steering motor to a car steering can eventually cause problems if the motor and other electronic steering is breaking or there is a power surge which make a car quickly steer to the left or right because of a power surge from the car's battery and electrical system. Steering too quickly while going faster in trucks and other heavy vehicle can cause rollover accidents which are very unsafe.

The steering software in electronic power steering computers may also be poorly programmed where the steering feels loose like a video game controller. Some drivers also complain that electronic power steering feels weird and numb because they can't feel the vibration of the road through the steering wheel like vibrations in manual and hydraulic power steering system because electronic steering is drive by wire or not directly connected to the car steering system with solid metal parts.

I think the reliability of hydraulic steering is better because it have been used for many years in older cars without much problems. Hydraulic power steering mainly becomes harder to steer when the hydraulic pump, hydraulic fluid, and hoses fails, but you can still steer the car by using more of your body's muscular arm and hand strength to steer a car. I also never heard of hydraulic power steering moving a steering wheel on its own.
