Is "Fear, uncertainty and doubt" being used too much to scare people into voting, buying, and doing

Fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) is a tactic of rhetoric and fallacy used in sales, marketing, public relations,[1][2] politics and propaganda. FUD is generally a strategic attempt to influence public perception by disseminating negative and dubious/false information designed to undermine the credibility of their beliefs. An individual firm, for example, might use FUD to invite unfavorable opinions and speculation about a competitor's product; to increase the general estimation of switching costs among current customers; or to maintain leverage over a current business partner who could potentially become a rival.

It is possible that people and companies use "Fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD)" to spread false rumors to scare people into using their products or service, or even vote for a certain political party.

For example, many lawyers claim if you represent yourself in court, you will lose, but it is not always the case if you have a lot of solid evidence, experts to backup your claim, and reliable witnesses like photos, video tapes, having a police officer or other trusted official like a judge, mayor,scientist, engineer, and doctor to testify as a witness or expert during trial since the Jury is more likely to believe in a Judge, Police Officer, government official vs. a mafia member.

Lindsay Lohan hired a lawyer, and she still has to go to jail. I think even if she did not hire one she probably still go to jail for 90-100 days since she broke her probation rules so many times, and seem to not care about breaking the rules.

During election time, I see a lot of fishy looking ads which says the republican party or democratic praty will make America worse, but the proof they make are kins of unbelievable.

MS can also be accused of using FUD by many people like Steve Balmer (MS CEO) said Google Reads your mail which is not true.
