I think there have been more people hurt and killed at robberies and random attacks at retail stores compared to being people being attacked by a seller or buyer who people meet at a social networking website like Craigslists, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, etc.
I sometimes read news stories of people being attacked by either the buyer or seller from buying stuff on Craigslist, and other selling websites, social networking sites. But, stories of people being attacked from someone they met on Craigslists, Dating sites, and social networks don't seem as common as people being attacked at a store, or randomly on the street.
News stories offline robberies and attacks by workers and customers at offline stores like gas stations, electronic stores, jewelry stores, banks, grocery stores, convenience stores, pharmacies, restaurants, etc seem to happen all the time. But, being attacked by either a seller or buyer who wants to sell or buy something on Craigslist, Facebook, etc by meeting people offline seems to be less common.
Buying products on a shopping website can be unsafe since buyers are giving their home address, name, phone number, gender, credit card number, I.P. address, GPS location, and other personal identifiable information about buyers to a website which may not spend enough time and money on hiring cyber security workers who's job is to secure customer data. A crazy worker working at the website, third-party worker like a server technician hired from a PC repair company or a hacker with access to the websites database can sometimes look up user's information, and physically go to a buyers home to stalk, send a letter bomb or harmful item like poison in a box, or rob the person's house who bought from the online store.
There have been people who have been hurt by letter bombs, and poisonous substances which were sent to their home address.
