Is it me, or does it seem like the biggest change in Master Quest is...

How many Stalfos mini boss battles we seem to get?

Really, they were in what, two or three dungeons in the original? In the original, they were in:

1. Forest Temple (twice, required once)
2. Spirit Temple (once, optional)
3. Shadow Temple (once, optional)
4. Ganon's Castle (required, twice, once in castle escape)
5. Gerudo Training Grounds (required, once)

Meanwhile, in Master Quest...

1. Forest Temple (twice, required twice)
2. Water Temple (THREE times, required ALL times. With THREE Stalfos fighting at once)
3. Shadow Temple (once, optional)
4. Spirit Temple (once, required)
5. Ganon's Castle (three times, required all times)
6. Gerudo Training Grounds (required, once)

That's at least one more dungeon they're in, and at least four more battles against them in the game. Possible overkill?

For the bored people, they also add in terms of annoying enemies:

Way too many more Redeads/Gibdos to count in the various dungeons.

About five more Iron Knuckle fights.

And quite a few more Lizalfos fights, despite them not posing any challenge whatsoever.

Is Nintendo a bit lazy or unimaginative here?

Maybe slightly unimaginative, but if the enemies are all in the same place as where they where in the N64 version than perhaps not?

On a side note, I suddenly realized that if you take the word "Gibdos", separate it in the middle so it reads "Gib dos", and swap the first and last letters around on both the new words, you get "Big Sod", heheheh...

I like all the extra fights. They're fun, even the redead/gibdo ones (they go down in 2 hits with the Biggoron Sowrd, anyway). I especially like the extra Iron Knuckles. They do 8 hearts worth of damage in one hit now, that keeps you on your toes.
Besides, it's not the biggest change. That would be the way your path around the dungeons is entirely changed, like going to the second floor in Dodongo's cavern almost immediately.

I wouldn't say the paths seem too different to me. In fact, they honestly seem a bit easier than the normal dungeon routes, because you don't have to travel quite as far to get items and such. The rooms often have the same general themes as the original dungeon, and the way you get the important items so easily takes a lot of the significance out of the proper mini bosses and more interesting and challenging areas.

It just seems so... anticlimatic to get a key for killing Dark Link and the Longshot for 'attacking' a picture on the wall.

I like having more battles, but I wish they would do something to actually increase the difficulty in terms of having smarter enemies to fight. That would actually make the game harder and a lot more worth while playing to me.

I agree entirely. Then again, why not some new enemies in Master Quest?

I know some games which had this (okay, Wario Land 4 did as a platformer, with one enemy only appearing in hard mode), but it'd have been neat here. Maybe some neat touches to the boss battles like what the UK version of the Hidden Mansion did with the Luigi's Mansion ones. That would have been awesome, especially giving them new attacks and adding possible new side effects to their existing ones. You could do stuff like making Volvagia drop boulders on Link as he appears from the holes in the floor, or maybe give Bongo Bongo a projectile type attack, make Morpha reach the corners of the room... Maybe have Phantom Ganon clone himself like the one from Wind Waker?

Complete with random teleporation and projectile spam.

You could then give Twinrova some random non reflectable attacks that have to be quickly and sneakily dodged. Like a wall of fire/ice that has to be quickly ran out the way of, maybe to the remote platforms. That would have made at least some parts of the game more interesting. They could have also maybe added some new minor enemies, like Iron Knuckles riding on armoured horses, Adventure of Link style:

Just stuff to vary it up a bit more. What do you think?

Yeah it would all sound good to me and only increase the playability of the game but I guess Nintendo just skipped out on it this time around. Hopefully they will wise up next time maybe for a Skyward Sword Master Quest and add in some new enemies or shoot maybe even a whole new dungeon to beat. I mean it's not like adding in more challenges to a remake of a game meant to be more challenging is going to do anything but improve it in my opinion.
