Is MAL the closest thing to a "true score" we have/can get?

Do you agree with this?
Or do you think there can be something else out there which can give a true score to any anime?

Make your own site, but I think MAL is the only one given its established userbase.

MAL’s obsession with keeping FMAB at #1 is the stuff of memes. The community is pretty notorious for dropping 1 star ratings on any show that reaches #1 that isn’t FMAB.

guessing the site owners are as bad as the users if they allow that BS?
Basically, it doesn’t sound like they regulate it.

Some site will report something hit #1 on MAL and within minutes you see it automatically gets reverted down to #2 with a suspiciously disproportionate amount of 1 star ratings.

I saw it most recently with AoT Final Season within hours after it happened, and I saw a ton of 1 star reviews being written saying “doesn’t deserve to be better than FMAB”

FMAB is a good anime, but not that good.

Uh oh. That's just too much
I didn't know that and here I thought it's good to see an anime keeping that place for long

I used to be on MAL, I think they might be inaccurate because its run by people who just don't care about the ratings.... I left that site afterwards, it was a while back actually.
However, I do like to go on 'animenewsnetwork' for checking anime series for 'true score' (if thats what you mean)

Even the users on MAL's forums make fun of the review bombing. Apparently every time a new season of AoT comes out, there's a review bomb war between FMAB and AoT for the #1 spot on MAL. Also a lot of the really popular shows on MAL's top anime list will have a suspiciously large 1 star percentage in the stats.

Also a lot of sites that have user reviews for media will have review bombing campaigns for whatever reason, most of the time for petty reasons.

Then there are shows that are in genres that aren't that popular on MAL, and season 1 will have a mediocre rating, but when season 2 or more come out, those magically have really high ratings. That's because people saw season 1 and didn't like it, and season 2 onward are only watched by fans, and not because season 2 or whatever got better in quality.

A lot of this isn't exclusive to MAL, and is pretty common on a lot of aggregate sites that are generated by amateur ratings. So I'm not specifically picking on MAL, but on those types of sites in general. That's why I keep telling you and Blackrose to take ratings on those sites with a grain of salt, and how you shouldn't take these ratings as "the law".
