I think it depends on the person, but if you are a secretary, or someone who needs to do a lot of office and school work for most of the day then yes, owning a laptop can be more important then a desktop if you are never home or travel a lot.

For example, the President of the United States probably uses his Laptop more then his Desktop computer to send e-mails to the army, the senate, congressmen, and judges.

I rather own a PC then laptop.

Same for me since I don't really have a need to take a laptop wherever I go like people who work away from home on a laptop.

I agree if you live at two places, or you travel a lot to different houses or buildings a laptop would be better since you'll always have your files with you.

I think a person should buy a laptop when he is mostly out of home or if he has his university or something going on. If a person is mostly at home then PC ftw for him!

PCs are getting smaller these days.

Indeed, but sadly monitors are about the same size until the day when Glasses with PC monitors are built-in to the lenses of your glasses. Keyboards and mice are also still rather big unless you buy mini-keyboards and mice which can be uncomfortable to use, and more costly. Speakers are still rather big except for more expensive mini speakers which offer good sound for the size.

Once laptops come with a detachable monitor which I can put on a stand like the stand found on most newer monitor to make the monitor taller, or shorter by adjusting the metal arm on a monitor

like this stand for the iPad1.

, and the keyboard is like a full size desktop keyboard, and it is detachable I think more people switch to a laptop.

The thing I dislike about Laptops is if I'm sitting on a tall chair which can't be adjusted lower, I sometimes need to slouch over a bit to use my laptop.

Plus, I'm too used to standard full sized desktop keyboards.

But, I think right now, or in a few years when super fast laptop comes out at an affordable price, people can't really tell the difference in speed when you compare a laptop vs a standard desktop speed.
