Is paid web hosting better then free hosting?

Yes, most free hosts I used like Geocities does not have FTP upload or download option with a FTP program like a paid host, MySQL databases, and very little space.

Worse of all, Yahoo decided to discontinue Geocities, so all my pages I made on Geocities over the year are gone.

Plus, Free hosts are very strict on what you can publish to be child family friendly, and they can ban members at anytime without warning if they break their Terms of Service unlike paid host which allows members to upload porno, violent videos, and other stuff.

paid is far better, you can do a lot more things and have little restrictions.

Of course it is! Paid has more php features enabled and that's what I need!

Java Applets can also be good for the web since they work with all web hosting plans I used, but it is difficult to code stuff in Java.
