I guest if you need a powerful computer to work at home as a video editor, graphic designer, or computer programmer, PC gaming is probably not very expensive since you have a fast PC at home for work, so when you are done with Work, you can play games on your work/home computer if you work from home doing computer jobs.

Well depends. A powerful computer doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be good for gaming. Like one can have a med class GPU with a superb i7 for Video editting, etc.

But, A med class GPU would be better for gaming then onboard video, or low end GPU. Plus, if the guy is willing to spend money on a better GPU when the prices drop for older models then he spend less on gaming since he already has a fast CPU, lots of RAM, and hard drive space. Plus, he is also using his PC to make money by doing his day job on the same PC, so over time he might earn enough money to upgrade his computer which will make his work also faster, so he can possibly earn more for newer parts.

Well yea. But I thought you mean is having a good workstation computer an alternative to owning a powerful gaming computer.

Couldn't a gaming computer also be a great workstation computer since if a computer is fast when playing the latest games then it can most likely handle most of the most advance video and photo editing software?

A gaming computer also be great for multi-tasking like watching a HD video while having a video editor open, and uploading the HD video to YouTube all at the same time because most gaming PC have plenty of RAM and a fast CPU.

I think if you already have a powerful computer it is going to come down to the price(s) of the game(s) you want to play. If the game has a monthly fee or is free to play, but costs $$ to buy it originally it may cost some moolah.

However, in my opinion PC gaming is worth the amount of money I pay per month.
