MMORPGs follow a life cycle. First, it will slowly gain a huge and solid player base by churning out a steady stream of quality content until it reaches its “golden age”. It will then stay at that peak until player interest eventually wanes due to poor or repetitive content or a flashier competition. In the case of Runescape, it was the latter.
After all, MMORPGs, despite their longevity and constant improvements over the years, will forever be products of their time. But even though Runescape is no longer quite as packed as it’s used to be, there are still good reasons other than Runescape gold to visit, or better yet, stay.
Imagine that you’re going back to the early 2000s, playing a game that has yet to enjoy the wide plethora of quality of life features that recent titles possess. What a fresh breeze of nostalgia that would be, right?
For a lot of MMOs, the story simply serves as a reason for players to kill mobs and then gear up so they can take on stronger mobs. There’s still grinding in Runescape. But unlike other games of the same genre, its overarching mythos and the stories of its main and side quests are definitely not mere excuses to get you into the never-ending grind loop. They’re not just aimless fetch quests either! Due to this game’s rich literary value, it still manages to be a worthwhile endeavor.
Last but definitely not least, a very solid reason to give Runescape a shot is the fact that it still receives updates and new content. Despite being way beyond its heyday, its developers still routinely adds locations such as the mysterious Arc Islands, the Egypt-like Menaphos, and many other new places.

For its latest update, Runescape has the Elite Dungeons, which are similar to what other MMOs refer to as raids. Yes, Runescape has finally caught up in that regard.
