Is the existance of Demise/Malladus a bit pointless?

For two reasons:
  1. Their direct underling is more of an influence on the story/interesting villain (Girahim and Chancellor Cole + Bryne respectively)
  2. They're basically Ganon in all but name. Why not just use Ganon rather than create someone who's basically him except with a flimsier story and worse design?
What do you think?

I agree. Demise should have been Ganon. They were practically the same. But Demise did look a small bit cooler....
But Ghirahim should have been the primary antagonist...

I think these show how much time separates the games. Demise is the evil force that exists before Ganon and Malladus is the resent that remains when Ganon is gone. Otherwise, I agree that Demise fought like Ganondorf in Twilight Princess and the existence of these other forms is as pointless as the existence of Dry Bowser.

Well before Demise died he said,
"I will kill your ancesters," or something like that. This could show that Demise is Ganon in a past life.
As for Malladus, he could be some future Ganon. I mean recarnation means that you change names and stuff. I think. I'm not an expert on it, but to change it up they just changed the names to make it different.

Agreed. There's no real reason he had to be reviving a master (Ghirahim), is there?

Problem is, why should they be battled and generally look almost exactly like Ganondorf/Ganon? Why does the final boss HAVE to be a bipedal humanoid monster who uses a sword (Ganondorf/Demise/possibly Bellum's possessed version of Linebeck) or a Ganon like pig monster (Malladus)? Why not make Demise much more... interesting than Ganon/Ganondorf, have lots more abilities and attacks, a very different form and be even bigger?

I knew that, although I guess you're right in that Malladus could be a future Ganon reincarnation. It just seems lazy design though.

I thought Demise was one of the easiest boss battles i've ever had

Demise is an evil entity that cannot be destroyed...he IS Ganon just not at that point of the game. He says he will be reborn as many different entities and such and that anyone tied to the royal family is bound to that curse. We wouldn't have any of our villains had it not been for him. So long as we have a Link or Zelda....or Royal Family member for that matter, we're going to have some kind of evil trying to destroy them, it's his curse.
