Is the save data of a Wii game saved in the CD?

Hi everyone,

I'm going to initialize (format) my Nintendo Wii because I have to restart the hard-load system in a clean situation.

Are the game data saved in the game CD, or in the Wii system?

If I initialize my Nintendo Wii, and if I enter a game CD, will the save data maintain? or just be deleted when I start formatting?

Is the game CD also keeping the save data, or just the game? I'm worried that all the save data will all be ruined.

I think it's usually saved to the console hard drive now. Saving to the game card itself is only something that's common with cartridge or card based games on pre Gamecube systems and handhelds.

Unless the xbox did it, I don't believe any system allowed game sava data to the CDs. Its either done to the system's HDD or memory card.

It would be stored on the Wii's internal memory not the disk.
