With gaming having got more advanced and moving on a bit, is sticking to the old excuse plot of save Peach from Bowser still acceptable in the Mario series?

Or do you think Nintendo should update the storyline or make it more complex now that games can have more of a story than can be explained in the instruction manual?

reading the title, i remembered this:
going-to-save-princess-again.jpg

But in all seriousness, I think they should branch off a game or two. Isn't it nearly every Mario game he has to save her sorry @ss and get rid of bowser for a while, only to have him turn back up and capture her again? :| Same crap, different story.

It'll be nice once in a while to see some Mario games made without having to save Princess Peach. Like how Super Paper Mario had this in which you actually can play as her almost entire game.

I wish they made it kind of about saving peach, but with new stuff as well.
Like Paper Mario TTYD

Well, to be fair, the characterization of the main protagonists/antagonists isn't very deep, so making a complex story with them is pretty difficult.

Why not a game that Peach is evil and the end boss? Like in the paper mario game (i never played paper mario but i know she was a boss and turned evil)
