So I have to admit I've played the PS3 version a gazillion times and I loved it, except for the forced network features. Coming into the PS4 version, I didn't really think the game would benefit from the resolution bump and the increase in framerate.
I was wrong.
The resolution bump brings a lot of little details in the artwork out that were hard to spot before and the framerate gives it a really smooth feeling, even more like a moving painting than the game was before. And some of the small changes that Sony Santa Monica have made are nice - for instance, little sparklies are now left behind when you find an orb to let you know where you originally found it and holding the circle button now creates a little shockwave in the sand.
However, I feel they really dropped the ball by not making the network features optional. This just isn't the kind of game I want to play with other people and honestly, in this day and age, having to unplug my console from the Internet to disable co-op is just a really, really poor solution to a really, really poor design choice. The forced networking was discussed at length for the PS3 release, so I have to say that I'm really disappointed it wasn't made a choice in the port.
Anybody else have any thoughts on the port?
