we first heard about the JXD S5800 way back in March. But it looks like the hardware has been finalized since then. Here’s what to expect:

  • 5 inch, 960 x 540 pixel IPS display
  • Capacitive touch panel with 5-point multitouch
  • MTK6582 ARM Cortex-A7 quad-core processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8GB of built-in storage
  • microSD card slot for up to 32GB of additional space
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 2G and 3G GSM and WCDMA cellular connectivity (don’t expect 3G in all regions though)
  • 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0
  • GPS
  • 3000mAh battery
  • 5MP rear camera and 0.3MP front-facing camera

The JXD S5800 also officially supports 16 game system emulators, allowing you to play games for PlayStation 1, PSP, Nintendo 64, MAME, GameBoy Advance, and other classic game consoles. Since those games are designed for use with physical controls rather than touchscreen gestures, you shouldn’t have to spend time using button mapping software in order to actually use the gaming phone’s signature features: the game buttons.

The JXD S5800 looks like a pretty good smartphone for playing emulators, and Google android games without the need to buy a seperate controller to connect to a smartphone via bluetooth and USB, or use touchscreen controls which are not as easy to use as physical controls. I'm surprise that JXD can fit two dual joysticks, directional pad, 2 cameras, 2 speakers, and so many buttons onto a 5 inch phone.

It does not also look pretty portable from the picture.

I also like that this Smartphone comes with a Quadcore CPU, 1GB of RAM,  and Google Android 4.2 which is one of the better versions of Android which run pretty smoothly even on devices with slower CPU, and 1GB of RAM.

The 8GB of storage is okay for a few games, but hopefully the MicroSD card slot supports Apps to SD, so users who need more space for games can install more games on a 32GB MicroSD card.
