KFC's Bacon Sandwich On Fried Chicken "Bread" Starts Killing People Nationwide April 12

Last August, we wrote about the "Double Down," a mysteriously tempting (and potentialy lethal) new food item being tested by KFC. For those coming late to the story, it's bacon and cheese sandwiched between two pieces of fried chicken. And now, many months later, I'll finally be able to get my hands on one.

KFC announced the decision to go live with the Double Down yesterday, but we weren't sure they weren't playing a April Fools gag. But no, they truly are going nationwide with the delicacy on April 12.

The sandwich will be available in two forms. The Original Recipe sandwich will set you back about 540 calories, 32g of fat and 1380mg of sodium. The not-as-bad-for-you Grilled Double Down totals 460 calories, 23g of fat and 1430mg of sodium.

Ok guys, I ask you, would you eat this?

No, since KFC chicken is expensive. But, if I got it for free, I probably eat it. The bacon and cheese makes it too fat.

I think if you split the chicken burger and eat half of it for lunch and half of it for dinner and eat less meat and other fatty foods with calories then it might be better. Plus, eat a salad without salad dressing.

I like Churches chicken better.

Maybe if it was one chicken cut in half, and just cheese in the middle, then I could possibly force it down.

It looks very heart-clogging in its original, fattening, lethal form.

If people eat a well balanced diet with grains, vegetables, fruit and "exercise", and split their food into smaller portions fatty foods won't be so bad for them..

I agree if you cut it in half or three pieces and share it with multiple people it is not as bad.

I have had the boneless cutlet, and although it is pretty good, it is oily as hell. That is about the only of KFC chicken I've had since that other article.

At any rate, the cutlet itself, is so oily, that it soaks through about 3 or 4 napkins that I have wrapped around it to get rid of the oil. I usually get the grilled variety, but on that particular day, they were out.

That being said, I can just image how oily this will be considering that there are 2 of them, there is bacon, and cheese on it.

If I were to get something like that then I would likely end up paying for 2 buns so that I could make 2 sandwiches out of it. I'd eat one and then take the other for lunch the next day or something.. But seeing as how the sodium content is astronomical, I wouldn't get this.

I just don't know what KFC was thinking.. how could they possibly have thought that this was a good idea?
