Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is easily one of the biggest third party titles coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Thus far, Square has been relatively quiet about the title, outside of a few acknowledgments that development was underway. That will change next month, when the title makes its playable debut alongside a new trailer at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show.
Kingdom Hearts 3D director Tetsuya Nomura claims his new game is as good as a full console entry in the series. According to a report on Andriasang, Nomura said that KH: 3D will have "the flashiest motion of the series" and is set to be released "as soon as possible" in 2012. Nomura did acknowledge that at this point, it could be tough for gamers to enter the world of Kingdom Hearts. With the 10th anniversary of the franchise approaching, Nomura hopes to address this problem.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, another title Nomura is working on, will also make its playable debut at TGS. Apparently the game is being considered "the first Final Fantasy 25th anniversary title," perhaps hinting that Square has more ambitious plans for the iconic franchise's milestone. Theatrhythm is due out in early 2012 as well.
