As promised, indie MMORPG Eldramoor has officially kicked off its alpha this afternoon, promising to be the genre’s next big thing in virtual reality cozy life. MMORPG players will remember that Eldramoor went to Kickstarter last summer seeking $25,000, but it pulled in over $171,000. Studio Resolute Games was open about drawing inspiration from the OG VR MMORPG OrbusVR, which actually closed down a year ago this very week.

Now, the spiritual successor has flung open the doors of its alpha, only a week or so off schedule.

“We’re going into Alpha with a strong build, but there are still some known issues we’re actively tracking,” the studio says. “Some quests may break if you leave in the middle of NPC dialogue. Please fully complete dialogue before walking away. The mage grimoire may occasionally spawn far away. Use Menu → Debug → Reset Grimoire Position if needed. Some enemy attacks may have incorrect telegraphs. Consuming smithing recipes may be inconsistent and require multiple attempts. […] If something feels off, confusing, broken, or just not fun, tell us in [Discord]. If something feels great, tell us that too. This is your chance to help shape the future of Eldramoor in a real, tangible way.”

There’s no NDA for this alpha, and even if you didn’t back the game on Kickstarter, you can access the test with a prepurchase (it’s around $59). Alpha is expected to run from today through the 20th, with beta on deck for this coming fall.

Eldramoor looks like a fun medieval style MMORPG game. I like the colorful 3D look of the game which look similar to older RPG games on PC and older consoles.

Good to see it closer to releasing.
