Despite initial skepticism from hardcore gamers, Kinect has been selling pretty well for Microsoft. In fact, sales have been going more than pretty well: Guinness World Records has just named the motion-controlled gaming peripheral the fastest-selling consumer electronics device.

Guinness World Records today announced that Kinect, having sold an average of 133,333 units per day, for a total of 8 million units in its first 60 days on sale from 4 November 2010 to 3 January 2011, had snagged the title of fastest selling consumer electronics device.

"The sales figures here speak for themselves," said Gaz Deaves, Editor of Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition.

"We can confirm that no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector."

The news comes on the same day that Microsoft confirmed Kinect had hit a new milestone. In a posting to the Xbox blog, the Redmond-based company today revealed that they had sold 10 million Kinects since the November 4 launch.

Wow, I'm surprise. I always expected it to be an Apple product because of the huge line ups I see on the News for the latest iPhone. Congrats, to MS.
