Do you think there will be laptops(or at least possible) to be like project ara, where you can take a piece of it and replace it with another part.

Do you expect laptops like this in the near future?

What do you think about laptops like project ara?

I think you're going to need to give a bit of back info on project Ara, as in what that is? I've never heard of it.

Probably something like a portable project christine. Since project christine is already a modular pc while project ara is a modular smartphone

It's a modular phone, you can easily remove a part of it e.g. like camera. So if you want to upgrade your phones camera, you don't have to buy a new one, just remove the camera part and replace it with an upgraded one.

A laptop which can be easily taken apart maybe made for Linux Laptop users, and gamers who want a laptop which is easy to take apart, and replace parts. But, the laptop probably will be made by a smaller laptop brand.

I feel it is unlikely for popular laptop makers like Apple, Dell, and HP to make laptops which can be easily taken apart, repaired, and upgraded because fewer people are buying laptops because most people are now using tablets and smartphone for many basic tasks, and many people own desktop computers for doing tasks like video editing.

A lot of people usually buy cheap $200 to $500 laptops which may cost more if the laptop was designed to be easy to take apart for upgrading, and repairs. Many people also replace their laptops everytime they need to use a newer version of Windows, or Mac OS because their older laptop parts may not be compatible with Windows, or their laptop is too slow for Windows 10.

I feel like big companies are avoiding this kind of thing such as companies you froggyboyyyyy mentioned :P Because it might affect the sell. Instead of consumers but a 'whole' new laptop, they just buy a part they need and replace the part. They see no profit on it. Maybe I think Project Ara has been shut down because of big companies agreed to each other, so this thing won't affect their profits and sales.

This is true companies don't want their profits to be lower from users who just upgrade a part like the video card because they already have a good CPU and enough RAM to play the game.

They may also be afraid that a bunch of third-party companies will release modules for their laptop, and male people less likely to buy the official modules like desktop PC where people have many third-party video card and RAM brands to pick from.

Some consumers are also very cheap where they may more likely buy a cheaper laptop which is non-upgradeable because it is a little cheaper because making a laptop with one large circuit board is most likely cheaper than a laptop with many circuitboards which can be removed and upgraded like building blocks.
