Speaking to Bungie at the Halo 3: ODST press event, we found out that Halo: Reach would be Bungie's last hurrah in the franchise it created...at least for this generation.

"In terms of a platform for Halo games made by Bungie...yes Reach is the last one," confirmed the game's senior designer Lars Bakken. "I can't answer that question about Microsoft - whether they have something in the works or not, I don't know if they're actually ready to talk about it yet. But in terms of Bungie-produced Halo games, ODST and Reach is all you're going to get on 360."

Ryan Crosby, Global Group Product Manager for Microsoft Game Studios added that "the Halo universe will live on in lots of different ways. You've seen things come out - comics, merchandise, things like that - I think that there's certainly the possibility that the Halo universe continues to live on."

Questioned whether there were any more games in the pipeline beyond Reach, perhaps for Microsoft's next console, Crosby replied "yeah, very possibly. Including the 360? Very possibly. You know, we at Microsoft are looking into all sorts of different stuff."
