While one market research firm -- NPD -- was finding that Chromebook sales had higher market share than Windows laptops in the B2B market for the first time, another -- IHS -- was seeing big growth in the smaller-screen laptop market segment, which Chromebooks dominate.

I think "Back to School Sales" are making the Chromebook has higher sales because you can probably find a Chromebook for $99-150 during a sale.

without a doubt, though they are low on the spec side compared to laptops right?

The more expensive Chromebooks like the Chromebook Pixel have better specs like an Intel Core i5-i7 CPU and 4-8GB RAM, and the cheaper Chromebooks have lower specs like an Intel Celeron-Core i3 CPU and 2-4GB RAM. But, the storage on Chromebooks are usually lower at 16-64GB SSD.

The specs on the Chromebooks are about the same from similarly priced Windows laptops which cost the same. But, the storage is a lot smaller because Chromebooks use flash and SSD Storage instead of hard drives.

The video cards on the Chromebooks are slower sometimes because Chromebooks use onboard Intel Graphics chips instead of Nvidia and AMD graphics chips which are faster.
