It seems as if gaming as a whole is doing a far better job of growing race, gender and sexual orientation representation. Of course there are a long way to go but it 's nice to see some change.
Nevertheless, one thing that bothered me is that there seems to be very little representation of Latino in gaming. Or at least not as much exposure as we see in film or television. I know one common knock against current Latino representation in the U.S. media is that Mexican portrayals are mostly defaulted, but even Mexican representation is sadly absent in gaming. Unless I had to estimate the number of Latino developers is possibly shockingly small for promoting this kind of representation? Our best bet right now is to focus on fighting games and hero-type games to get this kind of representation out there like every other minority community.
I decided to open this thread to see if similar observations were made by people. I am really hoping to know more about heavily inspired Latino games and/or powerful characters out there. And if anyone knows to keep an eye on any Latino developers inside the industry.
