I have been reading recently and it seems like a lot of the League community is getting really tired of Riot games as a company. People are constantly complaining about lack of really basic features. The most common complaints seem to be: Lack of a functional client (I mean I agree Leagues client is basically ancient and takes up an insane amount of CPU all the time), lack of a replay system (compare this to games like Dota 2 which has an amazing system), as well as frustration over the 1-30 level grind which requires you to either spend a lot of money to acquire all the champions or play an insane amount of time. If you compare this to other MOBA games, specifically Dota 2, where everything is free to begin and you have access to all the content, it is starting to make League of Legends look somewhat dated. Anyone else feel these frustrations. I am an avid League player and have been thinking about making the switch to Dota 2 just because of the stability and the content available.
I myself am not the best at MOBA's, so generally stay away from them. However, I have many friends who are in to League of Legends, and other MOBAs, but they seem to really like League of Legends. Of course they complain when something is wonky in a match, but I haven't heard them complain about the game in it's entirety. Where have you been reading? Everybody complains about everything in any game, and I doubt all the League players will just get up and go like that.
I used to play League of Legends but I find it that there is too much meta changes. Also the flow of the game changes too much for my liking. There is also the problem that there are not much diversity in the type of champions that seem very good patch to patch. I switched to Dota 2 recently and the betting features that third party websites make watch professional games a thrill compared to the games in League of Legends. I find that the reason most people switch to Dota 2 is because the client is so much better in Dota 2. There is so much features and seems more professional than the one League of Legends provides.
All i know is that one of the factors that lead me to leaving was when the game would crash right as I went into the loading screen for the fight. I ended up having to download an IP helper tool to try to prevent this but I didn't find it acceptable in the least that there should be additional downloads in order to prevent the game from screwing up. It should just not screw up. I guess that's what you mean by an unstable client.
I use to play LOADS of LoL. I have really quietened down on it just because it has got really quite samey. Another factor that brings it down is the community. I feel it has one of the worst online communities.
I've been a player of League of Legends for a really long time. Back then, Season 2 and Season 3 were pretty great. I had a lot of fun during these times because everything was well balanced. But recently, as Season 4 came by, I sort of started to lose my interest in the game. I've been adapting to so many changes made. In fact, they're going to be releasing a new Summoner's Rift map soon! I don't really know why this was necessary to do, but they did it anyways. I realy liked the old Summoners Rift map... Well, my passion is slowly fading now.
Many of them will certainly come back when the new Summoner's Rift is released. It certainly brings the environmental graphics up to par with DOTA2.
As for whether people or leaving or not, I'm not entirely sure that's the case. The company is doing exceedingly well in the e-sports arena and is getting record numbers of viewers. Maybe some people are coming and going, that will always be the case, but for the most part they have a fairly strong hold on the market.
I can agree however, that the League of Legends is by far the most toxic and hateful communities in any MOBA thus far, perhaps even any large player base in existence. When I tried to play with the few skills I had, people constantly offered less than constructive advice on what I should do to myself, to my game, and even to my family. I've obviously spared the details but it seems like a lot of the people playing LoL simply do not understand the concept of boundaries, and constantly cross the invisible social line, at least in my mind.
