Nearly got hit today, at a long stretch of highway before a four way stop light, I just happen to glance in my rear view mirror and suddenly saw this large SUV take to the curb and drive forward (they would be driving on the grass and mud at this point) and ram head on with a lamp post with the car coming back onto the road slightly which I would say stopping a few inches by my car.
I'd say the person, who looked like a young female was most likely looking at their phone.
Though a cause of it was that we did have to stop a bit sooner than we should have, as a few cars up this truck completely died and was sitting there (though the driver was making no effort to get it off the road.)
People are dumb these days.
