looks promising.

One of those films I would love to watch but not at the cinema. Will be interesting to see how good it is because I would love to find out what Buzz Lightyear is based on.

Agreed, not a cinema flick but something I would catch on Disney+ or something.

Buzz Lightyear was my favorite as a kid, so even though it looks weirds, it triggers this childlike part in my brain to make me somewhat excited and hopeful that it's good.

The old animated series was not bad:
I remember watching this all the time as kid. I watched the movie everyday for like 3 months and I would watch the show every morning it was on. Sadly I remember very little about both.

New trailer is up:

Movie is not doing good, read from CBR:

According to Deadline, despite some initial positive reviews, Lightyear is only expected to make somewhere between $51 and $55 million during its first three days in theaters.

While an opening box office of over $50 million would be a solid start for most films, it is important to note that Lightyear, had a massive budget of $200 million, meaning it has a substantial way to go to earn Pixar a viable profit. A solid portion of that budget went to pay for the movie's star-studded cast, which includes Keke Palmer, James Brolin, Uzo Aduba and Taika Waititi. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Chris Evans voices the titular astronaut, who seemingly replaced Tim Allen as the voice of the beloved Toy Story character.

I feel like the people that grew up with Toy Story and the TV show really didn't find interest in this new canon, and it is more Disney propaganda of their general support for a one-sided community of makers of the project. Also, a lot of people had other options for movies that didn't have yuri.

Reviews have been pretty brutal to the film. I do have to say, the trailers for the film didn't really get me interested at all.

This, the movie would have been huge back during Toy Story 1 and 2 era, but now the series has kind of moved on.

Read this from CBR on Chris Evans voicing Buzz instead of Tim Allen:

Actor Tom Hanks shared his thoughts on Chris Evans voicing Buzz Lightyear in Disney's Lightyear instead of Tim Allen.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Hanks, who voiced pull-string cowboy toy Woody in the Toy Story franchise, expressed confusion about Allen not returning to voice Buzz. "They didn't let Tim Allen do it," he said. "I don't understand that."

On the surprising decision to replace Tim Allen, Lightyear producer Galyn Susman said, "We needed a new voice for Buzz," further explaining that the film is about Buzz the human, not Buzz the toy. Susman added, "He needed to have a nice, rich sound, able to be both dramatic and comedic, and most importantly, he needed to be heroic without coming off as arrogant or dense."

Allen himself was also confused about the choice to cast Evans as Buzz, and slammed Lightyear for not having enough connection to the original Toy Story films. "This is a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movies," he said.

Allen also noted the absence of Woody in Lightyear, who was originally voiced by Hanks. "There's really no Toy Story Buzz without Woody," he said. "It just doesn't seem to have any connection to the toy."

When shooting Lightyear, Evans acknowledged Allen's legacy and was careful to respect it. When asked about the iconic "to infinity and beyond" line, Evans said, "As proud as I am to play this role and as honored as I am to be a part of this universe now, that line belongs to someone else. It almost felt like I was wearing someone else's clothes or something, you know? So you do your best to honor it and put your own spin on it. But let's be honest, that's Tim Allen's line."

I guess Buzz, the toy, isn't Buzz, the movie backstory.
