It was a good joke a long time ago, but it seems people took the joke and made it reality. Would you live in a van?

I feel I rather choose to use a pickup truck, and tow or haul my mobile home with a truck.

I am worried my van breaking, and it would mean my home and my vehicle needs to be towed to a mechanic to fix engine, tire, electrical, and other problems.

Not being able to use my home and vehicle at the same time because it is at the mechanic would be a hassle. I can also sell my truck, but keep my mobile home.

It's something that's going to leave you frustrated all the time.

I imagine it can be frustrating living in a van for people who don't like driving vans, and the high cost of gas, maintaining, insuring, and repairing a van.

Keeping a mobile home separate from a vehicle can be more affordable than living in a van because it is possible to hire or ask someone with a vehicle to tow your mobile home to a location like a trailer park or parking lot which allow mobile homes, so mobile home owners' don't need to always own a vehicle, buy gas and car insurance, and get a driver's license which can be expensive for many people.

I feel living in a van can be more dangerous than towing a separate mobile home because you are driving in the same vehicle that your bed, tv, stove,, tools, books, and other possessions are stored in. If the driver get in a car crash, they can get seriously hurt from their possessions falling on them if it is a minivan which does not have a strong metal wall separating the driver and passengers from their possessions.

Cars can catch on fire because of electrical and engine problems which cause a fire caused by a car design defects and car accidents which made the car to spill gas and oil on hot engine parts, so there is a risk of a fire spreading to your possessions in the van, and causing a bigger fire if you can't put the fire out fast enough. There is also the chance of a stove or electrical device like a toaster or iron in your van catching fire, and the fire spreads to other flammable materials in the van.

It’d be similar to living in a RV or Tiny home, just smaller. I wouldn’t want to. I like an open floor plan & being able to move around with ease. It can also be a pain to have to put everything away just to do something else. But it may be good for some people.
As long as they converted it correctly & were aware of complications, it may be fine.

I feel the affordability of living in a van is one of my biggest concerns of owning a van to live in and drive because vans generally use more gas than most average economy cars, and vans cost more to buy, lease, and rent a van can be expensive.

The cost of parking, maintenance, repairs, van parts, insurance, depreciation of the van, and other expenses related to living in a van and van ownership may add up to a lot of money over time.

The cost of gas may also become very expensive where it is no longer affordable to fill up a van's gas tank.

Naaah, I wouldn't live in a van as a home. I have watched a lot movies where some living in vans were attacked.

They were attacked because of the insecurities around a particular region and not as a result of the van that they were staying in.

No, I don't fancy living in van for a home. It's too small and I don't feel comfortable in small spaces. Unless, it's my last option available that would be when I would be forced to live in a van.

I have known some people to live in a van because it is cheaper for them to have a van done out and made into a home than it is to afford to buy a home or even rent a home.

I guess if you are someone who does not mind travelling and you can afford the security needed to ensure you are safe, it's something different and you could move whenever you wished without the worry of all the packing and hauling everything to a new home.

If it was a mobile home, yeah. You can travel the country while never having to leave the comfort of your bed. Just if youre gonna pull off somewhere to camp out for the night, make sure its like a hotel parking lot or something.

I feel more comfortable travelling with flight. This is why the appeal of being able to travel to everywhere in the city in a van home doesn't work on me.
