During the Nintendo E3 2011 press conference, everyone's favorite also ran plumber made an appearance, and he brought his vacuum.

Nintendo announced Luigi's Mansion 2, the sequel to the Gamecube launch title from 2002. The trailer showed Luigi creeping through hallways and up staircases, using his flashlight and vacuum to suck ghosts. You know, Luigi's Mansion.

Luigi's Mansion 2 features several new mansions, and one part in the trailer seemed to be an Egyptian tomb with a mummy.

I would have to agree with GracefulAssassin here. As for my reasons, I felt that the game had a lot of untapped potential to it. It just didn't feel... right, I suppose. Dunno how to express it really
 
It is about time they made a sequel to this great game, but I would have preferred it to be on the Wii U...Anyways, I can't wait for it!

Actually the Mario games are popular because they are fun to play and can sometimes be challenging. Also Nintendo does an awesome job with music composition and gameplay mechanics which adds to the already great experience. Mario is all about the gameplay and fun, not about the story which I admit is a bit lame and just tacked on so there is some kind of purpose to the game. Something new other than the Princess constantly being kidnapped by Bowser would be nice as well. ;)

I however agree that the games that aren't the main Mario games such as Mario Kart, Smash Brothers, Mario Golf, Mario Strikers aren't as good as the Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Bros. games.

Nice to see a new Luigi's Mansion game, although I became board with the first.
