EA may be trying to create a video game movie based on the most unexpected property, its Madden NFL franchise. Specifically, the infamous "Madden Curse" that afflicts cover athletes is being mined for a "sports comedy," according to one report.
The Wrap's Deal Central column claims that Electronic Arts is pursuing a film that tells the tale of "a former Madden video game champion who is forced out of retirement just as he finds himself on the corner of the game's cover — and subject to the curse." (Odd, yes, but a movie about a professional athlete suffering a career-ending injury at the hands of an evil sports game just doesn't sounds as funny.)
The outlet writes that Pat O'Brien, vice president of EA Entertainment, will act as one of the Madden Curse film's producers. Electronic Arts is also pushing films based on Army of Two, The Sims, Dante's Inferno and Dead Space, so another stab at cinematic gold doesn't sound out of corporate character.
While The Wrap writes it has confirmation from an unnamed EA individual, EA Sports reps tell Kotaku "We do not comment on speculation or rumors."
I guess we should start sorting out who should play John Madden in the movie. I'm thinking Joe Don Baker. You?

this will be a fail of a flop movie.
