After 14 years of not making me laugh one bit, Variety reports that MADtv "which had barely escaped cancellation in recent years, will end its run at the end of this season."
"There's been great interest in recent years," said exec producer David Salzman. "We've had a number of networks inquire as to whether the show was coming off Fox and saying that they'd be interested. We have not started to talk to them yet, but now is the time to begin those conversations. I think we have real prospects, but you never know, especially given the economy."
Maybe he could peak these network's interest with some of the great comedic characters that MADtv has given us over the years. Like "asian stereotype #1" or "asian stereotype #2" or my personal favorite "asian stereotype #27."
It has been said that Fox decided to let the producers of MADtv know now so that they could finish our thair season with "a bang." "This will give us a proper sendoff, a chance to promote the finale and bring back old cast members," Salzman said.
I feel like this show has had the same cast for the entire run. The asian dude. The bald dude. The blonde girl. The african american man and woman. And the white dude. Occasionally I've seen them pop up when my kids watch the Disney tween shows like Zach and Cody or Waverly Place - playing the "annoying adult." I hope they all land on their feet after this. I know this show has it's fans, but personally I never known one over the age of thirteen.
