Attention all Gaming Latest members, the forum will be down on 12/18 sometime between 9-11 PM CST for maintenance and upgrades. During this time we will also be looking into increasing counter measures to recent spam. All mods Karulean彡 Karulean彡 froggyboy604 froggyboy604 should try and keep an eye on the site as much as possible to nip any spam in the bud. I am also looking at hiring one more member as another mod, contact me if interested.

Once maintenance is complete, the site's IP address may be slightly altered for an upgrade I have in mind and may take a few minutes for your DNS to propagate to the new address. I'll send out a email once done with further details. Should you have any issues be sure to contact us through our twitter or facebook page.

Thanks for your support and activity thus far and sorry for any convince this causes.

the update is completed, took a little longer than it should have but oh well. Changes:

  • Forum has been updated to the latest version for security reasons.
  • Spam system has been upgraded thanks to Massacre Massacre suggestion.
  • We have become SSL certified, all your info on gaming latest will go over a https connection ensuring your data protection and secure connection to the site.
  • upped the flood control of new users.
Lets hope no further actions will need to be taken, still looking for a third mod.

Good luck with the maintenance.

Maybe you should implement email validation, and if that is already implemented, then the spammers must be real people, not bots...

I think e-mail validation does not work well these days. But, a captcha image, and simple math question works better.

I notice there seems to be more real people spammers now. I guest, there are now more people who are willing to spam forums when they are paid some money to spam because they are too lazy to find a non-spammer job, or are not willing to spend the time making money online legally by using eBay, YouTube, Craigslists, and other sites to make money.

Frog pretty much sums it up, email validation has become a useless tool to combating spam these days and is just an annoyance to members. I will make use of it though if the problem worsens.

Its harder nowadays to stop spam as like you said real people are getting paid so even email validation is not a massive problem for them
