With streaming and sharing features on the next gen PS4 and Xbox one, is it possible to make money? Inside gaming daily thinks it can happen:

This sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how successful it will be since there is already a lot of YouTube channels, gaming websites, and real TV shows like GameTrailers, EP Daily, Reviews on the Run, etc which do the same thing, and could be more entertaining than watching a random person playing games.

There is also the Pro Gaming League which is a League for the top gamers in the world to compete for cash prizes, so most of the best gamers may go to the Pro Gaming League rather than Streaming online.

Not everyone can go to Pro Gaming League, like 100 out of thousand of gamers? And yes while there are lots of popular online streaming sites, I do believe they are in danger as some random person can end up being better than they are.

It's definitely an interesting idea. Just another thing Consoles are adding that Computers can do.

I think it might be countered by Sony and Microsoft, or actually have to pay to stream more than X minutes a day, week, two week period. Sucks, but it's potential.

Hell, I can already buy games on Steam without spending a real-life penny now due to the cards. Maybe consoles will follow suit?

Exactly my point. Steam doesn't really care for used stuff because, Hell, it's PC. And it's linked to one account. So have fun selling your account legally, because you can't.

The Pro Gaming League is fun to watch because it only shows most of the greatest gamers who choose and got picked to be in the Pro Gaming League because of their gaming skills. I think most people rather watch the Pro Gaming League's videos which are on YouTube, their own website, DVDs and on on Cable channels like how a lot of people like to watch NFL football instead of High School Football.

I don't really think the big gaming video networks like Machinama, SpikeTV/Gametrailers, Electric Playground, and other popular Gaming Channel online will be in-danger since they have a large fan base, and hosts like Geoff Keighley, Victor Lucas, and Tommy Tallarico who have been hosting video game shows for years.

The best random guy being better than Geoff Keighley, Victor Lucas, and Tommy Tallarico would more likely start their own gaming website, company, or TV series where they can control more of their content, things they can say, and how they make money from ads and sponsorships like how Victor Lucas and Tommy Tallarico started their own Gaming TV shows which include Electric Playground, Reviews on the Run, and EP Daily instead of joining another TV show about video games.

EP Daily and Reviews on the Run are now also about Movies, Gadgets, and Sci-Fi, so they have a larger audience than before when they were mainly about video games.

Streaming can be a decent way to make a living, there are a bunch that do it on Twitch.tv. My biggest fear is if the game that I would stream looses popularity and I don't have another game that I'm good enough at. Right now a game that is incredibly popular for streamers is League of Legends, the only problem is when LoL loose's it's appeal, what happens to the streamer's income?

I have streamed, never made money at it as it was mostly just for fun.

IF I were Sony/MS, I would let gamers make as much money with Twitch as they want. See, that provides incentive to buy not only my consoles but the games for my consoles.

I read the Machinama Gaming YouTube Partnership is pretty good if you already have a lot of subscribers, views, and know how to promote your videos using giveaway contests, social media, Search Engine Marketing/Optimization, and e-mail marketing. YouTube also has a streaming feature for letting members with 100 subscribers stream non-copyrighted webcam and other video feeds.

I feel streaming on console-only social networks like Xbox Live and PSN may have a more limited audience, and fewer potential views compared to YouTube, Pro Gaming Leagues' streams, and cable TV programming where the audience could be huge, but you need to find a way to attract viewers by having giveaway contests, using SEO, social networks like Twitter, and Facebook to promote your streams on the web where you just need a internet connected PC, Cell Phone, Tablet, etc with a web browser to view the video stream on the web
